Lauren Lowenthal

Creator of the How to Get an A Methods

Lauren Lowenthal is an Academic and Self-Management Skills Coach based in New York City. She has presented her engaging skills workshops in New York, New Jersey, Buffalo, New Orleans, and Martha's Vineyard. Over the past 14 years, her original How to Get an A program has been a proven success in empowering middle school, high school and college students to achieve higher grades, stronger writing skills, greater self-confidence, and more college acceptances.

Lauren Lowenthal has a natural gift for communicating with teenagers. She understands their priorities, how they think, what they want, how they do their work, and where they need to change their expectations and habits. Her humor, tell-it-like-it-is honesty, detailed guidance, and the visual pop of her materials have proven to be an appealing and effective alternative to standard, dry tutoring and generalized study tips. Lauren combines rigor and high standards with humor, empathy, and an insightful respect for the student.

Lauren has been teaching writing and editing since college, where she also worked in the Georgetown Undergraduate Admissions Office. Although she also works on writing projects with adults, she has a proven track record of successfully holding the attention of a demanding teen audience.

Before turning her attention to teenagers, Lauren Lowenthal began her career in politics and film. After graduating from Georgetown University and Georgetown Law School, she worked on the Judiciary Committee staff of Senator Edward M. Kennedy, among other political assignments. She worked extensively as a comedy screenwriter and producer in New York, Los Angeles, and London. She has written for Interview, Fortune, Film Comment, Tatler, Fame, The Buffalo News and The Vineyard Gazette. Her background in politics, entertainment, and journalism informs her dynamic materials and presentation.
